چکیده

We measured the first azimuthal distributions of triple–differential cross sections of neutrons emitted in heavy-ion collisions, and compared their maximum azimuthal anisotropy ratios with Boltzmann–Uehling–Uhlenbeck (BUU) calculations with a momentum-dependent interaction. The BUU calculations agree with the tripleand double-differential cross sections for positive rapidity neutrons emitted at polar angles from 7 to 27 degrees; however, the maximum azimuthal anisotropy ratio for these free neutrons is insensitive to the size of the nuclear incompressibility modulus K characterizing the nuclear matter equation of state.

Neutrons from multiplicity-selected La-La and Nb-Nb collisions at 400A MeV and La-La collisions at 250A MeV

Triple-differential cross sections for neutrons from high-multiplicity La-La collisions at 250 and 400 MeV per nucleon and Nb-Nb collisions at 400 MeV per nucleon were measured at several polar angles as a function of the azimuthal angle with respect to the reaction plane of the collision. The reaction plane was determined by a transverse-velocity method with the capability of identifying charg...

Multifragmentation, fragment flow, and the nuclear equation of state.

We use the Boltzmann-Uehling-Uhlenbeck model with a momentum-dependent nuclear mean field to simulate the dynamical evolution of heavy ion collisions. We reexamine the azimuthal anisotropy observable, proposed as sensitive to the equation of state of nuclear matter. We obtain that this sensitivity is maximal when the azimuthal anisotropy is calculated for nuclear composite fragments, in agreeme...

Disappearance of Transverse Flow in Central Collisions for Heavier Nuclei

Using the Quantum Molecular Dynamics model, we analyze the disappearance of flow in heavier colliding nuclei. A power law mass dependence (∝ 1 √ A ) is obtained in all cases. Our results are in excellent agreement with experimental data which allows us to predict the balance energy for U + U collision around 37-39 MeV/nucleon. Thirty years ago it was predicted by Scheid and Greiner [1] that in ...

Transverse dynamics of a short, relativistic electron bunch in a plasma lens

Dynamic focusing of a 3.8 MeV, 25 ps long, full width at half-maximum (FWHM), electron bunch by an overdense (n,+nb, where np and nb are the plasma and bunch densities, respectively) plasma lens has been studied experimentally. The plasma focused the bunch from an initial transverse size of approximately 2.4 mm (PWHM) to about 0.5 mm, 21 cm downstream of the plasma. The sharp rise time (7 ps lo...

Transport properties of Nb/PdNi bilayers and Nb/PdNi/Nb Josephson junctions

The superconducting proximity effect was examined in both Nb/PdNi (SF) bilayer films and Nb/PdNi/Nb (SFS) Josephson junctions. In Nb/PdNi bilayer films, nonmonotonic behavior of Tc was observed as a function of PdNi thickness dF. The effective exchange energy Eex extracted from the data was about 13 meV. In Nb/PdNi/Nb (SFS) Josephson junctions, the existence of a crossover between the 0 state a...
